"Go and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people and all nations"
Key Verses
Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
ll Timothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
ll Corinthians 5:14
For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge this, that if one died for all, then all died.”
l John 4:19
“We love Him because He first loved us.”
John 14:15
“If you love me you will keep my commandments.”
Hebrews 12:1-2
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Notes/Thoughts
Motivation and Commitment
Motivation helps us start the assignment
Commitment is the action that keeps the flame burning
What is motivating you?
Motivation has to come from the love we have for God to go and make disciples like He commands us to (Matthew 28:19-20)
Paul was MOTIVATED by his heart for the Lord while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Why was he able to continue to preach and do the will of God although he was beaten, imprisoned, spat on, and mocked? He was also COMMITTED.
Don’t be afraid to tell someone of the good news! Like Paul, endure to the end (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Like a flame, whatever motivates us will not be enough to keep the fire lit, we have to be committed to set it ablaze
No one is ever too far gone. Be committed to the people of God, non-believer AND believer since He came for all people (ll Corinthians 5:14)
What is God saying to me?
If I love and am passionate about God, then I will do what He is asking me to do (John 14:15)
Love-we are NOT called to wrath but instead we are called to LOVE all people
Preach the word of God
Teach bible study
Share my testimony
To ENDURE to the end
Motivation can’t rule the day-if I let it, then I will never finish what I start
Emotions, people, weariness would get in the way
Commitment says that no matter what, I will choose to follow Christ, laying aside my past and looking toward my future with Him, sharing my story with any and everyone ready to hear it
How can I walk this out?
My life is not my own-I need to obey his word and commandments
Do not be afraid, the Lord is with me.
He will give me the words to say the more and more I am open to sharing about the love that he has for us.
When I don’t know what to say, tell someone my testimony about what the Lord has done for me!
His word will NOT return void!
If I am frustrated, I need to recommit. The power of the Holy Spirit will hold me upright
Let God be my motivation and allow my commitment to Him be the force that drives me to carry out His will!
