This week has been the sweetest! I have had so much fun with my husband and I’ve been feeling so good. Joshua has been doing some work in the garage and usually he almost always continues his work on Friday nights but last week he decided to take a break. I was just the happiest girl ever since I was able to spend a fun, cozy Friday night with him. We decided to go out to eat to Famous Dave’s and the baby loved every single bite! We held hands and talked about a little bit of everything while chowing down on BBQ ribs. When we were full we drove home and played our new Nintendo switch 2. It has been so fun beating Joshua in Mario Cart, haha!
Saturday we got to sleep in a bit before heading to our first Christmas service practice. I started maternity leave at my church so it was so nice to be able to relax and help when needed. I’ve been leading for years and this will be my first real break in a really long time. I am grateful to have the time to spend with our baby but to recharge spiritually all at the same time.
Later Joshua and I had Potbelly for lunch which is my new pregnancy craving lol. I get it at least 2-3 times a week hahaha. After we went to the mall which has become our favorite spot to grab treats, window shop, and get some good walking in. It was honestly such a great time. We say Joshua’s mom while she was at work and even ran in to Mickey and Minnie randomly!
Sunday we went to church, I sat and Joshua played the piano. To be able to worship and not lead was the best feeling. I realized in that moment how much I needed a break! I can’t wait for my husband to get one once the baby is here. That is when his paternity leave will start for church and work. Later that day we were invited to a leaders end of the year dinner at Ruth’s Chris! SO fancy and delicious if you as me. It was the best time with our Pastors and other essential leaders in our church. We were able to enjoy a fabulous meal while laughing and sharing stories. It was the perfect outing right before the baby arrives. Joshua and I are already talking about going back for our first date night after the baby is here.
The last couple weeks of pregnancy have been such a bast even with the discomforts in my body, it has been the best time with Joshua as we wait. No matter what you are waiting on be sure to enjoy the in “in between time.” The time where you could be waiting anxiously, or trying to control an outcome, wait well. Worship while you wait, walk around your favorite mall with a loved one, or have your favorite meal and just enjoy the time.

I’ve been saying how much I want this baby to come early but recently after reading, Supernatural Childbirth, I was a bit convicted with trying to hurry the pregnancy along. So much so that I was going to allow the doctor’s to do a membrane sweep this week but now have changed my mind. I just want the Lord to have his way and I want the baby to come when he is ready. In the meantime, I will enjoy the last few days I am given to just enjoy my husband, take care of myself, and spend as much time as I can with the Lord.
I’ve heard a pastor put it this way. He was on his way to preach at a service. He had never been to that city before so a driver came to pick him up to take him to the church. The driver knew where he was going but sitting in the passenger seat he didn’t. This is how we are going through life with the Lord. He knows where we are going. It is okay to sit in the comfort of the passenger seat knowing God has an expectant destination for you AND He is confident how to get you there, and to get you there on time!
This baby will come at the right time. My husband and I can just enjoy our time while we wait with expectation.
“They that wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Faith is active in the wait but our feet must be still. The more you try to make things happen on your own, the more you will run out of strength. But this verse is a promise! Those who wait on the LORD, their strength will never run out. In fact they will soar like eagles, they will run and never grow tired, they will walk and never faint!
See how much better it is to wait they way the word instructs us to?
What are you waiting for? How have you been waiting? I hope that if you have been anxiously waiting that this would encourage you to enjoy the ride. The Lord knows where you are going so it is totally okay to enjoy the view from the passenger seat while he gets you there.
