Ingredients
- 1lb ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 large onion, small diced
- 6 oz bow tie noodles
- pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder to taste
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 tsp hot sauce, optional
- serve with vegetables and garlic bread
Directions
1
Pour water in a medium stock pot and place over medium heat to begin to boil. Over medium heat place a medium sauté pan with tall sides. Add the beef, garlic, and onion together and cook until the meat is fully cooked.
2
Once the water is boiling drop in the bow tie noodles. Cook until al dente, or follow the instructions on the box. Once the beef is fully cooked, season the meat mixture with the seasonings to your liking.
3
Once the meat is seasoned, make a well in the middle of the pot. Drop in the butter and let it melt. Now add the flour slowly while whisking to create a roux. Let cook for 1 minute to eliminate the flour taste. Then, add in the beef stock slowly while whisking.
4
Using a wooden spoon, stir the meat into the sauce. Add in the milk and turn down the heat to low to allow the sauce to simmer and thicken. Once the sauce is thick and creamy taste and adjust seasonings. Add in the Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
5
Add the cooked noodles into the hamburger helper and enjoy!
